MINIMALIST HUNGER GAMES
Back when Suzanne Collins release the first Hunger Games book, I was hooked! I blasted through each book as they released, and was super stoked about the movie. The hype in my has subsided quite a bit now, but back then I had to design one of my first minimalist posters! I just watched the Mockingjay last night, and meh. But it made me remember this poster. Go Katniss!
ROYALS RAPUNZEL - WORLD SERIES 2014
If you aren't following along on my Instagram or Facebook, you're missing my World Series sketches of one of my favorite Disney characters dressed up in Kansas City Royals swag. With the long layover between the end of the Championship Series, and the start of the World Series, I drew a disheartened Rapunzel waiting for the games to start.
UPDATE TO 16-BIT PIXEL SUPERSTARS
The NHL season is around the corner and no doubt I've been busy. As many of you hockey fans have requested, here's the updated 16-bit draft picks with the 2014 addition of the Florida Panther's first overall pick, Aaron Ekblad. Prints are not yet available.
FANFEST AND THE ALL-STAR GAME
It's been over a month, yes it has! It is hard to capture all the emotions I've felt for those 5 days in Minneapolis, but the best way is to spurt out, "Thank you!!!". Though I'm not a new kid on the block when it comes to graphic design, it's only been a couple months since I really started labelling myself as an 'artist'.
MINIMALIST ART DISPLAY IN TARGET FIELD
One of the most monumental moment in my (short) art career is my display in Target Field, in Minneapolis. You see, a couple months back, I got a phone call from the stadium interior design reps and asked me if I wouldn't mind if they displayed my minimalist ballpark series in their stadium. Umm, yes!!! Fast forward to opening day, and my many twitter fans in Minnesota started tweeting me photos and congratulations for the unveiling of the display. As any Lego character will say, "Everything is Awesome".
CARTOON FITNESS MODELS
If you follow my instagram account, you'll see that I like to draw disney style pinup art. So when a fitness coach asked me to draw cartoon versions of her clients I jumped at the chance. She never ended up using them, but I had a ton of fun doing it and it was my first illustration contract!
ALL 30 BALLPARKS IN THE BASEMENT
I love getting photos from my customers. And this one is dead sexy! This dad wanted to impress his kids so he framed all 30 of my ballpark prints in his basement.
OLYMPIC HOCKEY GOLD IN PIXEL GLORY!
I'm so hyped for tonight's game I had to create this little meme to commemorate the event. I'm such a massive hockey fan, and even massive-er-est-ous Olympics fan. And being a patriotic Canadian, this game hits all my buttons. Some days I wish I just bought a ticket to Sochi, and watched the gold medal game in person.
ISOMETRIC VANCOUVER SERIES
When I designed Miss604's website, I created a bunch of famous buildings in isometric form as the header banner. As it turns out, they became really really popular and so I make them available as individula prints. For a better closeup, here's all 8 designs.
NHL MINIMALIST STADIUM SERIES
The long awaited NHL Stadium Series is just around the corner. I made some revisions to my minimalist baseball stadiums series, to honor the outdoor hockey games next week. Yes of course, we all know it never snows in Los Angeles, so don't get your jockstrap in a knot.
SURFER GIRL ILLUSTRATION
An illustration I've been working on at the side of my desk for a couple weeks. I've been enjoying using traditional art using pencil, paper and black ink. It's a little refreshing. As a newly located OCer, I spend a fair amount of time at the beach, and I'm surrounded with surfers all year long. I plan on doing more surfer girls drawing in the future.
